Happy Little Things: Pumpkin Season

Signs of fall:

Changing leaves (nope).

A nip in the air (haha—nope).

Sweater weather (I think we’ve established this already…no and no and no).

Pumpkin everywhere (yes)!

Here in Florida, fall won’t start for another month at least, and that’s if we’re lucky. We don’t have changing leaves, but we do have pumpkin. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin bagels, and Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes. While I’m waiting for fall, my favorite season, I’ll make pumpkin pie cookie dough energy balls and pumpkin cranberry bread. And yes, I will indulge in a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. (Rumor has it Pumpkin Spice Lattes now contain some real pumpkin!)

What are your favorite happy little things of fall?

  1. I would so miss the changing leaves. It's one of my favorite things about fall. Yesterday I bought what looks like a mini white pumpkin but is probably actually a gourd or squash or something. It was so cute I couldn't resist.

  2. Cheryl--Are you going to paint it? I've bought both mini pumpkins and squashes just to paint them!

  3. Oh, yes!! I love pumpkins and I'm happy for you that you have some autumn joys down there in the South. Up here, New England thrives in the autumn: apples, red and green and golden on trees, breezes, air cooling, yellow flowers, golden sunshine evenings as the days are starting to grow shorter, and pumpkins and the Common Ground Fair next weekend!!! The leaves aren't changing too much here yet, but they sure will!

  4. Rita--I should write a whole post on autumn joys...provided we have an autumn this year :). I want to come back to New England in fall--it was so beautiful when we were there a couple of years ago. We have several states left to explore, including Maine. Hope you enjoy all the beauty around you before the winter comes. And have fun at the fair--hope you'll share some sketches.
