In Remembrance

We who are left how shall we look again
Happily on the sun or feel the rain
Without remembering how they who went
Ungrudgingly and spent
Their lives for us loved, too, the sun and rain?
~Wilfred Wilson Gibson

May you have a peaceful
Memorial Day.

Beautiful poem. Glad you posted this. I always have mixed feelings about Memorial Day... I enjoy the family cookouts and fun but remember with sadness the lives lost and the families forever missing a member.

Lovely post. I'm with Teresa. It's truly a mixed holiday.

I'm ashamed to admit I never really thought much about Memorial Day before. It seems more important to me now as we continue to send young men and women into danger, and our oldest veterans from prior wars pass on. It's important that we recognize their sacrifice, and that of their families.

That brought tears to my eyes, Kathy. A beautiful tribute.
